[title] More About Gav... [link] magav [description] A page with many facts about Gav (Gavin Nottage). Learn what he's like if you want to... it's your choice! [keywords] Gav, Gavin, Nottage, Aston, EECS, Christian, Guitar, Guildford, Trinity Studios, Spice Girls, Jason Plato, Alvin Stardust, Ten SIng, Tensing, Divine Comedy, yamaha xg, McLaren, F1, Lotus, Villeneuve, Coultard, Senna, perfect gentleman [intro] My full name is GAVIN PETER NOTTAGE, and this summer I completed my final year at Aston University studying EECS (Electronic Engineering and Computer Science). I'm a Christian, I play Guitar (lead, rhythm and bass) and less successfully some other instruments. I also write loads of songs, record them when I can, play around with my PC's. Hopefully I'll design my revolutionary product and form my own company sooner rather than later... [body] What am I doing these days? At present I am working in Crawley, West Sussex as a Hardware Engineer. I am still living in Guildford, although I like to try and spend some weekends away visiting friends when I can. Claims to fame... I did a weeks work experience at Trinity Studios during the time when the 'Spice Girls' were practicing how to dance and mime to catchy songs. (I saw them, and thought "they're gonna get nowhere!") That was May 1994. I have driven a formula ford around Silverstone (what's so special?) - taught by Jason Plato of BTCC fame. June '95 I've met Phil Collins at a petrol station. I have worked on a radio show where Alvin Stardust was interviewed (and therefore I've met him). June '94 I ran the first Ten Sing web site in the UK for the now disbanded Guildford Ten Sing. (late '95 to '98) I doubt many people in the UK have heard of TINI, so I must be one of the few early adopters to this great idea. I saw The Divine Comedy 2 weeks before Chris Evans started playing them, and have 'Liberation' signed by Neil to prove it! I saw the 2000 Ben Folds Five concert in Wolverhampton where Ben broke a piano string, and have the snare drum head to prove it! I have recorded with Guildford Ten Sing at ICC studios in Eastbourne as well as numerous recordings with my bands at HPS (Halfpenny Studios) in Chilworth, run by my friend Joe Wakeford. So what does Gav do? I'll try to give you a few ideas of what I get up to... First, I play guitar (rhythm and lead), and this has led me onto teaching myself bass guitar, keys and drums. I write my own songs, arrange and then record them on my PC using amongst other things my YAMAHA XG soundcards and nice mic's & compressors. I now record whenever I have the time on my PC (which isn't often enough!), using the name Gav as well as Vine and Fred Z. I studied Electronic Engineering and Computer Science as they are big interests of mine, and I got a degree. I'm not sure if I will stay in Electronics and computers all my life as I enjoy so many other things. Related to that I'm interested in IT as well as the power and instrumentation industries, as I did my industrial Placement at T&R Test Equipment. And of course I have to have an interest in TMR safety as I work for ABB August. Being a fan of cars, I'm interested in motorsport, in particular F1. I love driving, and wouldn't mind a career move to involve cars. In F1, my current favourite drivers are: Jacques Villeneuve and David Coulthard, although I think Senna was the greatest. McLaren is my favourite team, seeing that they are the closest to where I come from. Dream car for me would be a top spec Lotus Elise - I fit them perfectly! Although for practicality an Audi A2 looks good... Even More about Gav My birthday is 10 June and I'm a touch under 6 foot. There's no girlfriend on the scene at present, although as ever there a few special girls in my life, but I'm waiting for the right moment with the right girl. Of course I'm a perfect gentleman; caring, considerate, respectful and generous. I'm not the tidiest person ever, but then again I'm not too bad! Favourite song?... Tough one that, I don't think I have ONE favourite song, but I like the following bands/artists: Cake, R.E.M. , Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Del Amitri, Lenny Kravitz, The Lightning Seeds, The Divine Comedy, Fear Of Pop, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Jamiroquai, U2, Finley Quaye, theaudience, Semisonic, Ben Folds Five, Deodato, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Moloko, the Beatles etc... (far too many to mention I think!). I hope that's given you an idea of what I'm like - if you like what you've just read, try Emailing me to see if the above is all made up or complete truth!
